Welcome to my experience on the 13 Day Danish Diet

Introduction
Five years ago I was about 110 lbs, since then I went through a series of major life altering events such as: had surgery; downsizing at work, a horrendous breakup, moved 700 miles away, a sick family member, and when I finally got a job it was so bad I went into clinical depression. All of that affected how I viewed myself; how little I cared about my appearance and a despondent attitude towards weight gain. At 150 lbs a 5’2” person like me is considered obese and at risk for heart disease and diabetes. Introspection, mindfulness, and leaving that horrendous job opened my eyes. I began to feel empowered to return as a wiser, better version of what I was five years ago. I hope that if you decide to take a similar journey you feel accompanied and connected to at least one other person who went through something similar.

Why this diet?

I decided to do this diet because I did it 9 months ago and I lost close to 20 lbs in 2 weeks. I started at 148 lbs and on the last day I was 126. I was so very happy to fit into some of my old clothes. That I decided to keep this diet in my back pocket as a means to make sure I do not go beyond a certain weight. 3 weeks ago I was 130 lbs, then I went on a 2 week vacation where I indulged in a great deal of bad eating habits like too much alcohol, fried foods almost every 4 hours, gigantic portions, and eating well past 10 pm. I thought doing this diet again will be a good way to reset my eating habits and possibly lose a few more pounds.

Why this blog it?
Embarking on this diet the first time was a big decision. I researched many diets and this one had very little information only bad press from the well established weight loss sites. Since the weight loss industry has failed me many times in the past, I thought there must be a reason for the collaborative unanimous defamation of this diet. In addition the meals explained here don't sound too far apart from a cleanse, approaching a raw food diet, or following the age old rule of not eating past 9 pm. I did it and it worked for me so if someone is on the fence I hope this blog describing what I felt each day helps them decide.

Please Remember
I am simply an adult female attempting to obtain what I consider to be a healthy weight for me. I am not a health care professional so please check with one if you have questions or concerns about the health quality and benefits of this diet. I am not the originator of this diet. I found this diet on the internet and I'm sharing with you my personal variation on it. Remember, I’m not an expert, I’m fighting my way through weight management like many of us out there.

Every human is different and you will have different results from me, my hope is that my experience helps you in determining if this is right for you. If not I hope you were entertained while reading it because I will be as honest as I can.
